Early 20thC very unusual aesthetic demi lune commode or side cabinet from the family of Bear Grylls, famous British explorer and adventurer.  

Early 20th century lovely aesthetic very stylish mahogany demi lune commode or cabinet with an interesting family provenance. It is from the family of Bear Grylls, famous British explorer and adventurer. His late grandfather, Brigadier William Edward Harvey Grylls, was the original owner. The Harvey Nichols depository label printed with his name is on the back of the cabinet. The late Sir Michael Grylls, former M.P., was the son of Brigadier Grylls, and the father of Bear Grylls. A very well made, probably bespoke piece with beautiful mahogany geometric inlays, ebony line inlay, and ebonised trim, over square tapering legs. The interior is divided by an adjustable shelf with moulded edge. It is as well made as the exterior. The doors open with full length hinges. The top is beautifully inlaid with triangular pieces. Size- 34 inches wide, by 18 inches deep, by 34 inches high. With key, a stunning very versatile cabinet to use as a server, sideboard, drinks cabinet, or lamp table. In excellent condition with beautiful colour, and a great provenance, this piece will look at home in contemporary decor, or mixed with other antiques.
