Set Of Four Silver Salt Cellars.

Wonderful quality set of four silver salt cellars; round cauldron shape with cast knurlled gadroon borders, each on three cast lion-mask and pad feet, with blue glass liners. The last time we saw four salt cellars of this quality they were made by the master silversmith Paul Storr. The gauge of metal used is extremely thick and each salt feels the weight of a cricket ball! James Dixon have been making fine silver since 1806 and still have the patterns and catalogues from this period. If they were Georgian, these would be museum pieces. Sheffield. 1963.
