Set of 4 Antique Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Dining Chairs

Offered for sale is this superb quality set of four Edwardian mahogany bar back dining chairs. The chairs are a lovely rich brown mahogany colour with extensive inlay, The back rails have boxwood and ebony stringing with satinwood crossbanding, the centre panel has a flame mahogany oval panel with boxwood stringing and also barbers pole inlay. The set of four mahogany dining dining chairs have newly reupholstered drop-in seats above square tapered supports which are again line inlaid with boxwood and ebony with satinwood crossbanding. These would have been a very expensive set of chairs. The inlaid mahogany dining chairs are in excellent showroom condition having been cleaned, revived and waxed along with the seats reupholstered in a gold John Lewis fabric.

Offered for sale is this good set of four antique Regency mahogany bar back dining chairs consisting of four single chairs. The set of four antique Regency mahogany bar back dining chairs have a shaped back rail above a carved centre splat with newly reupholstered overstuffed seats on turned and reeded supports typical of the Regency period. This well proportioned set of four chairs are in excellent showroom condition having been cleaned, revived, waxed and seats reupholstered in a John Lewis fabric. Elegant Pair of Regency Mahogany Bar Back Chairs c1810

This is an elegant pair of Regency bar back chairs in solid mahogany inlaid with ebony. The rare design incorporates an ebonised line inlay detail to the bar backs, in a Greek Key motif that is characteristic of the Regency period. The central horizontal back splats are particularly well carved, consisting of a raised and fielded central tablet, bounded by lyre shaped carving, edged with floral rosettes. The stuff over seats have been upholstered using traditional materials and methods (horsehair and webbing), covered in a gold trellis weave fabric and edged by a scroll gimp in complimentary colours. The seats lie over slender turned mahogany forelegs. The chairs are in very good condition with no cracks or breaks to the backs or legs. They stand sturdily and are not loose or wobbly. Depth of colour and patina is also very good. Overall, this is an elegant pair of chairs that could be used either side of a hall table or occasional table to provide additional seating.

Raised on fine ring turned supports they feature overstuff seats (re-upholstered traditionally from bare frames in this stunning Regency two tone apple material.)
