A very large and finely modelled clock in the style of Louis XVI. It dates from around 1870 and is by the famous maker Japy Freres who's mark is on the movement backplate. It is classically styled, boldly modelled with acanthus leaves, blind fretted front and surmounted by a large urn with masks. It is a particularly well modelled clock, heavy and of high quality, it will require a strong mantle or side table to stand on.
The dial is the particularly sought after cream with blue lettering and is complete with hand made blued steel hands. It is covered by thick, convex bevelled glass mounted in a heavy bezel.
The French Japy Freres movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition, just a faint hairline. This is a large and majestic clock that will make a grand focal point for your room.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

A beautiful, Louis Japy, small clock set that will easily sit on a 5 1/2" mantle shelf. It is in the style of Louis 16 examples, dates from around 1880 and is very well made in Ormolu (fine electro-gilded brass) Gilding is in good condition with a bright and clean finish. The dial is particularly pretty, white enamel with delicately painted floral swags around the Arabic numerals and finely fretted gilt brass hands.
The back door of the clock is glazed to allow the movement to be seen and candelabra are modelled in the round; the set would display very well on a centre table.
The Louis Japy French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. The Louis Japy mark is on the movement backplate. Pendulum and bell are replacements. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots and corners and the candelabra arms are very slightly distorted. The dial has some slight chipping around the right hand winding hole.

Early 20thC set of 6 solid silver grapefruit spoons in Louis XV pattern by WHITING. |
| Prior to 1926, set of six sterling silver grapefruit or citrus spoons in the famous Louis XV pattern 1891 by Whiting Manufacturing of Massachusetts, a division of Gorham. This sterling is .925 fine, identical to the silver content of English silver.
Wonderful double struck shaped and scrolled stems lead to exquisite pointed bowl, with scalloped top edges, and soft fluting to the top part of bowl.
Approximately 5.5 inches long each.
A lovely and unusual set weighing 140 grams, and in excellent condition. |

A very decorative gilded brass clock in the style of Louis XVI. It is modelled as a classical ruin with a swan neck pediment above the dial and Nike, goddess of victory to the sides. The front of the clock has a finely fretted panel which allows the pendulum to be glimpsed, swinging inside the case. Dial is beautifully decorated with a floral swag on a cream enamel background.
The French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright gilding with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches.
