| Beautiful Early Ormolu and White Marble Portico Clock with Silk Suspension.

A lovely early Portico clock, particularly early with silk suspension movement. It is white marble with ormolu mounts, finely modelled as floral swags and baskets of fruit and flowers. Pendulum can be seen swinging below the movement mounted in the pediment of the portico, this is also modelled as a basket of flowers.
The dial is enamel on copper and is complete with original finely fretted gilt brass hands. Back door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen, the clock would display very well on a table.
The French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There are some nibbles to the edges of the marble and the marble has discoloured to a pleasant cream colour in places, particularly the urns on top of the clock. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. The dial has some slight chipping around the right hand winding hole.
Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

A very large and finely modelled clock in the style of Louis XVI. It dates from around 1870 and is by the famous maker Japy Freres who's mark is on the movement backplate. It is classically styled, boldly modelled with acanthus leaves, blind fretted front and surmounted by a large urn with masks. It is a particularly well modelled clock, heavy and of high quality, it will require a strong mantle or side table to stand on.
The dial is the particularly sort after cream with blue lettering and is complete with hand made blued steel hands. It is covered by thick, convex bevelled glass mounted in a heavy bezel.
The French Japy Freres movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition, just a faint hairline. This is a large and majestic clock that will make a grand focal point for your room.

A beautifully proportioned 'drum head' table clock, made from lacquered brass and of particularly good quality. The movement is fitted in the drum of the case and has a finely decorated brass dial with 12 individually enamelled cartouche letters for the hours. This sits on a splayed and fretted base which allows the pendulum to be glimpsed swinging. To the sides of the case are goddess masks with flowing floral swags to the base and above is an urn of plenty with gothic mask side handles. The modelling of the case is beautiful and is of the highest quality with sharp detail and the lacquered finish is clean, bright and fresh.
The back door of the clock is glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

Stunning antique French boudoir clock featuring an adorable figure of a cherub playing a harp. The style is Rococo, waisted keyhole shape with acanthus leaf shoulders, 'C' scroll feet and surmounted by a floral finial. It stands on its original integral base. The front, sides and rear of the case are fretted and backed with red velvet and the rear door of the clock is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. The design is beautifully bold and heavily moulded in brass, well chased and finished. It is modelled in the round and so would display very well on a table.
Dial is beautiful, heavy brass with delicately patterned centre and an engraved minute ring. Hours are individual enamel cartouche letters. It is complete with its original delicately cut, blued steel hands.
The French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of excellent quality, their mark is on the movement backplate along with that of the Paris retailer's mark H&F. It is in clean and fully working condition and is complete with an old replacement pendulum. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell, click the movie below to see and hear the movement!
The finish of the brass is excellent - bright and clean. There are some minor areas of wear or discoloration. The dial is in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. There is some old repair work and losses to the fretted sides which doesn't really detract. We have replaced the red velvet with new.

A beautiful, Louis Japy, small clock set that will easily sit on a 5 1/2" mantle shelf. It is in the style of Louis 16 examples, dates from around 1880 and is very well made in Ormolu (fine electro-gilded brass) Gilding is in good condition with a bright and clean finish. The dial is particularly pretty, white enamel with delicately painted floral swags around the Arabic numerals and finely fretted gilt brass hands.
The back door of the clock is glazed to allow the movement to be seen and candelabra are modelled in the round; the set would display very well on a centre table.
The Louis Japy French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. The Louis Japy mark is on the movement backplate. Pendulum and bell are replacements. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. A very decorative gilt brass clock set in excellent condition. It is French Gothic in style, with lions mask and hairy paw feet. It is constructed of brass with a gilded finish which is in excellent bright and clean condition.
The dial is enamel on copper with a brass decorative centre and blued steel hands. it is covered by convex glass.
The A. D. Mougin French movement is of this clockmakers usual excellent quality. It runs for 8 days and is in very good clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. We have replaced the missing pendulum. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!
The case is in excellent original condition, bright and fresh with hardly any wear or discolouration. The enamel dial is in excellent condition, with a faint hairline and some slight chipping at the winding holes. Candelabra arms are slightly distorted. A beautiful antique French Rococo clock set of the highest quality, by Japy Freres. It is of typical Rococo waisted keyhole shape, with beautifully figured natural red veneer mounted with finely modelled ormolu (gilded brass). Ormolu mounts are modelled as scrolling foliage and 'c' scrolls. Candelabra have matching bases and two light candelabrum modelled as entwined foliage with a floral centre.
The large dial is enamel on copper, has roman hours and Arabic minute ring. It is complete with original blued steel hands and has a convex bevelled glass.
The French Pendule de Paris movement is by Japy Freres and has the clockmakers mark on on the backplate, see picture below. The movement is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced and timed up by our clockmaker, it runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is very good with some very slight marks and faint shrinkage cracking to the veneer. Veneer has a lovely figure and a good finish. There are a couple of very minor losses of veneer in places, a tiny piece to the side of the clock and a small piece at the rear of one of the candelabra bases. Ormolu is in excellent condition with just some minor wear on the high spots. Original glass is in good condition. Dial is in excellent condition with some minor nibbles to the edges of winding holes.

A small and delicate clock set, featuring ceramic bodies with a beautiful deep blue glaze. Bases and candelabra are gilded brass which is in excellent original, clean and bright condition.

A chic and decorative clock set of Italian Bardiglio
variegated grey marble mounted with gilded metal. Two cherubim struggle to hold the clock aloft which is fitted in a marble case which is surmounted by a finial of a quiver of arrows and a bow. Pendulum is a sun goddess and can be seen swinging beneath the case. The side urns have gilt covers with pineapple finials and cherub handles joined with floral swags. Modelling of the mounts is excellent with a good original gild and these are offset by the beautifully understated marble.
The dial is enamel on copper with floral swags between the Arabic numerals. It is complete with the original gilded fretted brass hands.
The Vincenti French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. The backplate is fully marked with clockmakers mark and Paris retailers mark. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish to the gilt metal. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. Marble has a lovely finish with just a few very minor light surface marks and tiny nibbles to the edges. The dial is also in excellent condition with just a tiny hairline above the 12 o'clock. | A Superb C18th Oak Eight Day 'Rocking Ship' Movement Longcase Clock.
The 12in dial incorporating a calendar apperture & subsidiary seconds dial to the centre, with sprays of flowers adorning the corners. The arch painted with a castle seascape housing the painted rocking ship apperture. The hood with swan neck split pediment above the arched door flanked by reeded columns. The case with shaped trunk with marquetry starburst & flanked by fluted quadrant columns. 88ins (224cm) high, 18ins (46cms) wide & 10.5ins (27cm) deep.
The movement has recently been completely overhauled and is in good working order with documentation supplied. |

A very large and majestic clock by the famous clockmaker Japy Freres. It is of the highest quality, boldly modelled in brass with its original fine gilding in good, clean and bright condition. It is classical in style featuring a pair of lion pillars to the sides. Fret work to the front and sides allow the pendulum to be seen swinging; fret work is heavily modelled as foliage, masks and patterns and the inside rear of the case is lined with gilded brass. Top is domed and fretted and surmounted by a finial. Scroll feet support the heavy break front cushion base.
This is a far superior clock to most. It is of great size and weight and beautifully detailed and well finished.
Twelve individual enamel cartouches mark the hours on the heavy gilded brass dial.
The Japy Freres French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. It is fitted with rack striking and Brocot type pin-pallet escapement and is complete with original pendulum and bell. The Japy Freres mark is on the movement backplate.
