19thC Salters cast iron letter balance postal scales. |
| 19th century Victorian cast iron No 11 letter balance scales by Salter's, still in excellent working order.
Salters has been making weighing devices for centuries, first taking out the patent in 1838. Their twisted knot pierced by arrow trademark has been used since 1884. They are known for excellence in workmanship.
Porcelain dial shows weights up to 24 ounces via spring balance mechanism.
Traces of original gilding to weighing platform.
A lovely collectable, that could still be used today, and is wonderful to display.

On the obverse, one monkey is standing up holding a branch and attempting to knock down two butterflies. On the reverse, another monkey holds a cage and urges on the first monkey with his arm.
Size 9.25 inches long.
In excellent condition, with lovely patina, this is a wonderful object.

This lovely letter opener will grace any desk beautifully. It is 10 inches long, by .75 inches wide, and is quite heavy weighing 3 ounces.
