It is in its original large gilt frame. Esther Ellerman was wife to one of the richest men of the time, Sir John Ellerman, the subject of the Sunday Times Magazine article The lost tycoon, see below. She painted under the pen name of Ellen de Streuve and exhibited her paintings in galleries around the country. The reverse of this painting has a part label. Condition of the painting is excellent and clean. The frame original is in fair condition, you may wish to restore the frame or have the picture re-framed. ORIGINAL OLD FRAME to the oil, which is nice to see nowadays. Devonshire coast by Clovely. Much nicer in real life than my photos can show. Eg. The lovely painted birds fling in the sky, and some sheep on the hills.
