Circa 1770 a George 111 Mahogany Secretaire Chest on Chest Circa 1770 a George 111 Mahogany Secretaire Chest on Chest . This beautiful example comprises of seven drawers plus the pull out secretaire desk section. Each drawer is of solid figured mahogany, cock beaded with fluted canted corners to the upper section, a mark of a better quality example, stunning in colour, lined in oak and furnished with original brass swan neck handles. The interior is equally as beautiful, with 8 slim, crossbanded drawers, a central locking drawer with secret paper compartments flanking it and 4 lovely arched pigeon holes. A gorgeous item, a very genuine example with dentil cornice above and the whole raised on bracket feet below. Height 78" Width 47.5" Depth 23.25" £5995

SUPERB GEORGE 111 MAHOGANY CHEST ON STAND AND DATING FORM AROUND 1780. CONSTRUCTED FROM SOLID MAHOGANY IT HAS A MOULDED EDGE TO THE RECTANGULAR TOP ABOVE A CARVED FRIEZE. THERE ARE TWO SHORT DRAWERS OVER THREE LONG DRAWERS ALL BEING OAK LINED. THE SOLID MAHOGANY STAND, WHICH IS LATER HAS A MOULDED EDGE WITH DEEP FRIEZE ON LONG ELEGANT CABRIOLE LEGS WITH LARGE CLAW & BALL FEET. THE BRASS HANDLES AND ESCUTCHEONS ARE SOURCED AFTER THE ORIGINALS. A FANTASTIC CHEST THAT SHOULD YOU REQUIRE MORE DETAIL AND PHOTOGRAPHS PLEASE CONTACT US WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP. IT HAS A CROSS BANDED EDGE TO THE SOLID MAHOGANY TOP WITH TWO SHORT DRAWERS OVER THREE LONG GRADUATED DRAWERS ALL WITH ORIGINAL TURNED KNOB HANDLES AND IVORY KEY ESCUTCHEONS.
