French Victorian Gilt and Cane Double Bed

French Victorian Gilt and Cane Double Bed This stunning example is double caned and contained within a gilded frame in the form of bundled rope with intermittent ties. The single caned headboard has a bookpaged floral garland of superb quality, the whole surmounted with a foliate cresting of 4 large floral buds with scrolling leaf work beneath (again all original gilt). The bowfronted footboard matches the headboard but is double caned with extensive garlands of gilded leaf work and flower buds over the cane. A sturdy antique bed which bolts together very simply forming a very rigid structure supplied with new slats. The whole raised on 6 fine tapering turned and fluted legs with brass casters.
