A very fine little lowboy - English c. 1690, with shouldered baluster legs and original turned stretchers. The legs and carcase of well figured elm, the ovolu moulded twin plank top in oak and the drawer front in oak also - all having developed a very attractive ripe and mellow colour.
...show more description lowboy retains its original brass ring snaped handle and has channel carved edge to the shaped frieze. The drawer opens and closes smoothly and is robust and solidly made.
Condition: in superb condition for age with no later timbers or restoration other than the very tips of the feet which are professional replacements of excellent quality in matching timber and impossible to notice even on close inspection. Tip of the frieze is missing. The top planks original also and bearing some additional fixings which have been added over the years and which are typically found in twin plank tables of this age.
