Description:
This pair of sublime and very important pair of blue porcelain lidded vases was produced by Sevres, one of the principal European porcelain manufacturers of the period. It is located in Sèvres, Hauts-de-Seine, France, and was founded in 1738. The vases depict a series of romantic scenes; intricately hand painted and feature ornate ormolu mounts with piercing detail and is circa 1860. Each vase is signed by the artist towards the bottom of the scene and stamped on the inside of the lid. Both measure 7 ½ in – 19 cm deep, 10 ½ in – 26 .8 cm wide and 29 ½ in – 75 cm high.
