An unusual late Victorian walnut cased aneroid barometer with a patent ceramic surround.
The turned polished walnut case is in fantastic condition, with lovely reddish tones, the inner ring with truncated circular carvings.
Polished spun brass bezel to the 8 inch beveled glass, back-written with the numerals and weather indications and fitted with the brass pointer hand and knob.
The convex-section ceramic sight ring is stamped Patent no. 2526, 1888 and with an indistinct signature for the retailer from Oswestry.
The silvered aneroid movement is fully visible in the center.
Overall diameter is 12 inches (31cms).
